Upgraded from a chromecast, to take advantage of the ethernet interface. It works great and is rock solid.I have a TP-Link Deco wifi 7 mesh network with a 2.5gb ethernet backhaul, and connected the Google TV Streamer to a Deco ethernet port. Unfortunately the Deco default installation routed from the ethernet to wifi, so casting to the Streamer from wifi didn’t work. Fortunately it was surprisingly easy to convert the Deco mesh to “AP” (bridged) mode, and now casting works perfectly from all ethernet and wifi connected devices. Anyway, if you use the Streamer’s ethernet interface, make _sure_ it’s on the same (bridged) IP network as your wifi, or casting will not work.Streaming over the ethernet is solid – I have seen no stutters or delays that I did see occasionally with the chromecast on wifi.I control everything (Streamer, Samsung TV, Verizon cable, and external audio amp) with my sofabaton u2. It doesn’t have named support for the “Google TV Streamer” yet, but its “Chromecast” support works fine.My stereo amp is connected to my Samsung TV’s optical output, and I have no audio problems with the Streamer as input.It’s a solid system, and a worthwhile upgrade.

Impressive. Better than the best TV interfaces. If you use Google’s home stuff (especially) this is amazing with integration. But – get the voice control

The box works as expected, all apps function as they should, HD Homerun would not load until you go into developer mode and side load the app, then it works fine. I have been looking for a reliable solution to replacing the old cable box and this is it, other than the developer mode to install HD Homerun this is a great solution, The Ethernet jack is great, although it has wireless and it also works fine. It does not have any audio out jacks, unless you get an audio extractor you only have audio integrated with the HDMI. The remote is your average control, I typically use the phone app remote.

I just setup my new Google Streamer , simply because my Samsung TV os sucks . The actual streamer has a smaller footprint than I expected which is actually a plus . You will need a hdmi cable as this doesn’t come with it . And setup is no harder than any streamer . Would recommend getting it setup through the Google home app as it saves a lot of time . The setup pretty much takes about 15 minutes from setup to updates completing . If you are familiar with Google tv OS then it’s pretty easy to navigate. The remote is longer and has some texture , feels nicer than then the previous remote . Biggest difference on remote from previous 4k Google chromecast is a longer remote , the volume buttons are on the front instead of the side , and it has a program button that allows you to shortcut a fave app, or Google home button to control smart devices . Or just to swap inputs . It has Dolby Atmos ,Dolby vision so if you have that setup it sounds great . I have Google home controlling my Phillips hue lights and nest thermostat . It’s nice to be able to do that right from the Home Screen .It is much snappier & quicker response than previous chronecast 4k with remote . Zipping through menus, selecting apps and programs is much quicker than my Samsung tv os sucks. Thread border router functionality makes communication with my smart devices simple . WiFi speeds are decent & it does have an Ethernet port for even more stable connection The streamer has 32gb of onboard storage which is more than enough for me . It also has a remote finder button on back of device to help you locate that missing remote .Picture quality is excellent as well . Setting up apps is quick as far as sign in as well. Is it better than Apple TV 4K or nvidia streamer ? No but it also is $30-$50 less. Overall initial impressions are it’s great , and over time I expect it has more functionality with updates etc . It does have some AI functionality in generating screensavers , but as of now that’s more a cool thing to try at 1st , then you will probably get over it .

First off, I would like to say that the new remote control is so much easier to use than the old one. The volume buttons are now on the face and no longer on the side with tiny buttons. Although, I wish they installed a rechargeable battery in it, it’s not a deal breaker. It would have been more convenient. Otherwise, I am happy with this new button layout.They increased the memory and storage of the unit. This makes apps load much easier and snappier. The UI doesn’t feel or look sluggish. And when you turn on the Apps Mode Only, it takes away all the visual clutter and junk that you don’t want to see, i.e. recommendations, etc. This mode has been available in the original versions, but I wanted to point it out for people who may not know about its existence.The addition of an ethernet port is another reason why this version a lot better. Do away with your patchy Wi-Fi signal and just run an ethernet cable to it and you have a smooth-running system.There are a lot more improvements in the system/UI but I don’t want to go in detail. If you go through the settings, you’ll find the small improvements that provide a better viewing experience. Trust me, I went through all of them, one by one, and was impressed at the attention to detail. To top it all, I think the best improvement is Dolby Audio and Dolby Vision. If you have a system that supports both of these, you’re golden.
